By now you should have read it on enough websites that the entertainment at a reception is the most important thing. Having said that, consult with your DJ for the best spot for them to set up at your event. They know their equipment and capabilities better than anyone else and they are trying to give you the best possible result for your event, so please listen to them.
Here are a few tips to remember:
- Keep the DJ close to the dance floor
Makes it easier for the DJ to interact with the guests and keep a good vibe flowing with the crowd.
- Avoid putting tables in front of the DJ, specially in front of speakers
The people at these tables will be blasted with all the loud music and will probably leave.
- Give your wedding DJ plenty of room
Have an idea or ask to see pictures of the DJ's setup so you know how much room they will need. Some times wedding venues like to set up a room in a way that works best for them and their needs. Remember this is your event, ask them to work with you.
- Time to setup and take-down
Club houses are particularly terrible at giving you 30 minutes to clean up at the end of the night. This will be almost impossible for your wedding DJ. Find out how much time the DJ needs to get all their stuff and allow time for it with the venue.
